We know how passionate Kiwis are about chocolate. And we know some of the changes we’ve made over the past 12 months haven’t been popular with everyone.
The love and trust Kiwis have shown us is so important to us – and respecting this love is our number one priority. And while we can’t change some things – such as where some of our products are made – we can do other things.
So this forum is for us to hear from you. Tell us the things that you’d like to see us do. It may be about how we can help benefit New Zealand communities – for example, by using our Fundraiser product – or how you’d love us to create a club where Kiwis can get free chocolate, or be the first to try new products.
We can’t promise we’ll be able to do absolutely everything – but we’ll certainly take all of your suggestions seriously to see what we can do. And you can be sure you’ll hear back from us.

hello…
we all love your chocolate here in the matamata.

Hi! I tried to purchase Bournvita today and find out that its no longer stocked in the supermarkets. Cadbury has gone to the pack lately with some of their products especially here in New Zealand.
Commented by Alistair August 15, 2010 at 8:41 am
Hi Alistair,
Thanks for your comments. Limited stocks of Bourn-vita are still available for purchase in New Zealand however we stopped making the product in September last year. It was a difficult decision that had to be made in order to secure the future of our Dunedin factory and its Kiwi employees. Although there are some Bourn-vita lovers like yourself, there just weren’t enough to continue producing and stocking it on our NZ shelves. We hope you’ll continue to enjoy our other products.

Still get pangs for Snifters everytime I want to go to the movies, can’t believe that the perfect combo of chocolate and mint was culled. But now I find that Bournvita has gone the same way, and let’s face it Milo just doesn’t compare no matter how much you put in! I get that Cadbury is a corporation so money is the most important thing. But tell you what, they’re no longer getting any more of mine, so hello Whittakers!

Hi Hilary,
We’re sorry that you feel this way. We’ve had to make some difficult decisions over the past few years in order to secure the future of our Dunedin factory and safeguard the 500+ Kiwi jobs inside it. Although there are a few Bourn-vita lovers like yourself, there weren’t enough to continue producing and stocking it on our NZ shelves. Have you tried Cadbury Drinking chocolate? Our popular flavours are mint and caramel. We hope that in time you will try and enjoy our products again.

Hi, Is it true that Cadbury NZ doesn’t sell any NZ made dairy milk chocolate in NZ other than boxed chocolates. All dairy milk chocolate is made and comes from Australia? How do we now buy NZ made dairy milk chocolate on it’s own?
Commented by Mark August 13, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Hi Mark,
We still make lots of our products here in NZ! For a full list see http://choclovers.co.nz/faq/#NZP Not only this, we also produce the ‘chocolate crumb’ – the base ingredient for our chocolate blocks, that is made using fresh full cream Kiwi milk.

Hi, Can you please tell me if your mint imperials are suitable for vegans? I have googled the list of ingredients and they might be but I am not sure about the origins of the anti caking agents you use and if they are animal derived or not. Thanks.

Hi Yolanda,
We’re pleased to confirm that imperial mints are suitable for vegans :-)

Kia Ora Cadbury, Years ago, since high school, my friend and I started buying a Moro bar for each others birthday. For my 40th he brought me 40 mini moro bars. It was so cool. Do you have an idea how i can top this as far as moro products go for his 40th? Do you have super bars or something out of the ordinary that could be a great moro bar present?
Commented by Rhonda Halliday August 13, 2010 at 2:17 am
Hi Rhonda,
Happy belated 40th Birthday!
You may already be aware that Moro is available in a 60g bar, 85g Twin Pack and a 12 piece 210g sharepack.
Have you thought about baking a Moro cake, using some of our products? Check out our Cadbury Kitchen for some great recipe ideas:

Hi, my mum just sent us some cadbury chocolate from South Africa and I was wondering if there was any way you could start making the Peppermint Tart Slab here? It is delicious! Thanks.
Commented by Cyndi August 13, 2010 at 12:39 am
Hi Cyndi,
Thanks for the suggestion! We do currently offer two peppermint flavoured chocolate in NZ, Old Gold and Bubbly. They are very tasty and well worth a try. ?

What’s happened to the fudge brownie desserts block? I can’t find them in any of the Dunedin suppliers!
Commented by Kelsey August 12, 2010 at 9:30 am
Hi Kelsey,
The Cadbury Dairy Milk Desserts Range has been discontinued. It has been replaced with the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar of Plenty range, available in the two delicious combinations – “Berry Fruit & Vanilla Shortcake” and “Roast Hazelnut & Honey Roast Cashews.” We hope you will try these new flavours. They may just become your new favourites. :-)
Commented by Choclovers August 12, 2010 at 7:11 am
Do you have any residue supplies of Bournvita? I’ve been told you have discontinued production of this and I have not been able to find anything that takes its place. Am trying all avenues to locate any remaining stock.
Cheers Trudee
Commented by Trudee August 12, 2010 at 7:54 am
Hi Trudee,
Limited stocks of Bourn-vita are still available for purchase in New Zealand however we stopped making the product in September last year. Bourn-vita was deleted because of declining sales over a number of years and an overall increased demand for flavoured drinking chocolate. Cadbury mint and caramel flavoured drinking chocolate are selling very well, if you’d like to give those a try.
Commented by Choclovers August 23, 2010 at 1:23 am
Hi – I have been trying to buy some bournvita for my husband only to find it unavailable anywhere. My husband is gluten intolerant and finds he can drink bournvita but not milo and is absolutely gutted that you have stopped making it – why have you stopped as it was always something that seemed to sell well in the shops??
Commented by Denise August 12, 2010 at 7:53 am
Hi Denise,
We stopped producing Bourn-vita as it wasn’t selling well enough, so didn’t reach its sales targets. However, we do have new flavours of our Cadbury Drinking Chocolate. Has your husband tried our Drinking Chocolate?

Dear Kirsten,
Happy Birthday! What a wonderful present to have a box of Roses. The roses boxes are a random election, so perhaps next time you will find a lemon cheesecake chocolate. xo

Hi there. I have noticed that the 85g Twin Pack Moro bar DO NOT have egg listed in their ingredients, and yet the 60g bar DOES. Can you please verify whether the 85g bar in fact is without egg, as I would LOVE to eat one but am allergic to egg white.
Thank you,
Hayley
Commented by Hayley August 11, 2010 at 4:21 am
Hi Hayley, The 85g Twin pack does not contain egg white however the 60g bar does. We may move to include egg white in the 85g Twin pack in the future, and if we do, it will be included in the ingredients list in bold print. Please check the 85g Twin pack packaging to ensure egg white is not present in the product before you consume it.

Over the Easter period, I “splurged” and brought a 4 pack of Creme eggs, I was incredibly disappointed upon getting my groceries home and opening (what was a sealed packet) to find only 3 eggs in a 4 pack! :(
To top off another bad experience, I have since purchased a fun pack of 12 sealed Cruchie bars, only to have 9 in the pack!
I was, sorely disappointed :(

We just opened a bag of Pascall Eclairs and have to say we are very disappointed with them – they used to taste amazing with smooth chocolate in the middle and when you chewed there was the taste of the chocolate combined with the caramel toffee…now there seems to be only a minute amount of chocolate in the middle and they are tasteless…also noted they are made in Malaysia! Seems to be none of your products are as divine as they used to be – it’s a shame as when I lived in London for 4 years I missed the taste of NZ Cadbury chocolate, and now the taste is changing for the worse.
Commented by Walshie August 10, 2010 at 10:10 am
Hi Walshie, sorry to hear you aren’t enjoying our Pascall Eclairs. Unfortunately it isn’t viable to produce all our Pascall range in NZ anymore so we moved production abroad in-order to invest $69 million and convert the Dunedin factory into a specialist factory to secure Kiwi jobs.
We’re doing all we can to ensure the taste of Pascall Eclairs remains, however being produced in a different factory means there may be some slight differences.

Hello,
Today I was talking with my family and we all agreed that marble chocolate was the best chocolate you have ever made. We really miss it as there is no other chocolate that is nearly as good! Any chance you would bring it back?
Commented by Emma August 10, 2010 at 10:05 am
Hey Emma,
Unfortunately there wasn’t enough demand for Marble in NZ. If you’re looking for another great chocolate block with both white and milk chocolate then you could try the Cadbury Dairy Milk White Bubbly. Let us know what you think. Although it’s not the same as Marble, we think you’ll still enjoy it lots!

Dear Cadbury(Pascall) I see someone already posted something similar but I just wanted to say Wine gums were my lolly of choice and now I can’t even eat them. I’ve never complained to a manufacturer before about a product, and i can understand when you need to discontinue products due to low sales, but it would have been better for me if you’d discontinued wine gums than left me with the bad taste in my mouth from whatever it was I had in the new “wine gums” packet. I don’t know where your research comes from, but this has put me off pascall lollies altogether – a stance I’d happily change if the old wine gums ever returned.
Commented by Heber August 10, 2010 at 9:29 am
Hi Heber,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us and we’re sorry to hear you are no longer enjoying our Wine Gums.
Recently we began manufacturing some of our products including Wine Gums at our specialist lolly factory in Melbourne, Australia. When products move factories we do everything possible to ensure the taste that our fans love so much remains the same, after all this is what has made these products Kiwi favourites. We hope that in time you will try and enjoy our Wine Gums and other lollies again.

I have recently become hooked on your Snack Chocolate block but as of the past few weeks I have been unable to locate it on shop shelves. Are you still making this fantastic chocolate or do I have to suffer from withdrawals? It has been my craving while I am pregnant and I am now in my last few weeks and really craving it more now I cant get any. Please help!
Commented by Kate August 10, 2010 at 8:21 am
Hi Kate,
Unfortunately there weren’t enough Snack lovers in NZ like yourself so we had to remove it from NZ shelves. It is still available in Australia though, so perhaps you could check some specialty or online stores?

Thanks!

In 1991, “inspired by the trend in the European market…the natural confectionary company was formed. Why? marketing or out of health concerns?
Commented by Vanessa Gould August 10, 2010 at 1:30 am
Hi Vanessa,
The Natural Confectionery Co. began as Sunrise Confectioners way back in 1941 and was founded by Julius Lighton and his two son-in-laws, Walter Eger and Rudi Moser. They were passionate about their sweet things. They wanted to provide mouth-watering lollies but they also wanted them to be affordable so that everyone could enjoy them
The Natural Confectionery Co is the umbrella brand for deliciously natural jelly products. The name fitted perfectly because the jellies had absolutely no artificial colours and no artificial flavours. The range was developed to provide people with more choices.

Howdy,
Could you mix minties with fruit…wild berries or citris fruit I think would work well…minty and fruity. Also, could you start manufacturing minties in New Zealand as opposed to manufacturing them in Thailand, I’d prefer to buy kiwi made thanks even if it costs more.
Also, the chocolate being made in Australia is simply not as good. Australian chocolate has never been that inspiring – I don’t have any problem with chocolate being made in Australia from a supply chain and effiency point of view but did you look into why our chocolate is better or at least why we prefer it…what is going into it that is different?
Shane
Commented by Shane August 10, 2010 at 1:12 am
Hi Shane, That’s an interesting idea Shane, thanks for the suggestion. In-order to secure Kiwi jobs we had to convert our Dunedin factory to produce boxed chocolates for Australia and New Zealand, as well as iconic Kiwi products including Jaffas, Pebbles and Pineapple Lumps. This meant that production of some other lollies including Minties, and chocolates had to be moved abroad where we have factories that specialise in making these types of confectionery. We take these sorts of changes very seriously and do a lot of research. We put in a lot of work into trying to make sure that the products keep the same familiar taste, however occasionally this move to a new factory can slightly affect the flavour of the product.

Hi there. I’m a throaties addict – up to 5 packs a day. I have two little things – why are there 9 in a pack instead of 10? 9 is an odd number and i eat them in 2’s. Also, they are SO hard to open. The mini tear tab just tears away when you pull it and trying to get into the packing any other way is impossible!
Commented by angela August 9, 2010 at 10:36 pm
Hi Angela, glad to hear you like Throaties, however please keep in mind they are a medical throat lozenge and we don’t recommend over consuming them. The size of the packs are determined by consumer research. As a medicated product, the packaging is designed to make them tamper proof.
